Itinerary
This 5-star no-fly cruise departs from and returns to Southampton, calling at:
- Zeebrugge, Belgium… the Medieval town of Bruges is a 20-minute drive inland, and it has a fairytale quality to it, with cobbled lanes, pretty markets, and quaint canals linking old churches and merchant houses.
- La Coruña, Spain… is a port along Galician shores, with seafood restaurants and tapas bars jostling for attention along lively streets. You can visit the Tower of Hercules, a lighthouse built during Roman times.
- Leixões, Portugal… head to Porto, 15 minutes' drive away, where you can sample local port wine at hip bars on the banks of the Douro River, or visit one of the fascinating museums in the old town.
- Vigo, Spain… a friendly and welcoming atmosphere prevails at this lively port, and you and take in views over the scenic bay from the 17th-century hilltop Castro Fortress
- Getxo, Spain… is the seaport of Bilbao, a city is best known for the Guggenheim Museum, where you can check out some modern art, or wander down the Siete Calles (Seven Streets), which The Independent calls "ideal idling territory".
About the ship
Celebrity Apex is a luxurious ship that pushes the bar when it comes to delight. The cruise line partnered with such well-known designers as Kelly Hoppen and Jouin Manku to bring a modern, airy feel to every space onboard.
Cruise Critic, whose editors rate it 5/5, says the vessel "shines when it comes to dining and nightlife, striking the right balance between fun, flair and familiar". Rather than the traditional approach of one main dining room, the ship offers four smaller venues for a more intimate full-board experience: you can choose from international, French, Greek, or Italian restaurants.
Speciality dining and drinks cost extra, and you can pre-book an all-inclusive package for a supplement. The bartenders' theatrical flourishes when pouring co*cktails at The Martini Bar, and the ocean views from The Sunset Bar stand out as some the most attractive options for where to begin the evenings.
The nightlife never feels tired: you can dance the night away at the silent disco, or catch a show at the theatre decked out with a 20-foot-tall and 180-feet-wide LED screen that becomes an integral part of the performance on stage. Cutting-edge features also include the Magic Carpet—a tennis court-sized floating bar that will transport you to port.
